剧情:

武則天（劉嘉玲飾）登基之日將近，但接二連三駭人的自焚案相繼發生，死者全為武后的親信。武則天聽從國師的指引，命令上官靜兒（李冰冰飾）將通天神探狄仁傑（劉德華飾）召回，并命為欽差，聯同上官靜兒、裴東來（鄧超飾）查案。期間，狄仁傑與生死之交沙陀（梁家輝飾）發現一種名為“赤焰金龜”的靈蟲與自焚案受害者也越來越多，而真凶仍未查明，但所有證據與武后有關。究竟這個武后背後藏有多少不可告人的秘密？而被委派協助的上官靜兒及裴東來究竟是敵是友？通天幹探狄仁傑誓言以性命解開千古奇案！

Synopsis:

Based on Chinese historical figure, Di Ren Jie, a Magistrate and Statesman of the court during the Tang Dynasty (630-700AD). Detective Dee (Andy Lau) was called back by Empress Wu (Carina Lau) from exile to investigate a series of murders. Empress Wu, the first and only female emperor to ever rule China, was preparing to officially announce her place in throne when the people closer to her was murdered.
